Mohit Naik
About the artist
Born into an artistic family, he had the privilege of experiencing his father's (Artist Mohan Naik) art from the day he was born. Surrounded by his father's paintings and the warm colors within, he grew up deeply inspired by his father's originality and painting style. His own artworks are a reflection of the memories cultivated since childhood, influenced not only by his father's paintings but also by the beauty of their village, Ghodkem.
Starting to paint at a young age, he found inspiration in his father's work, often subconsciously drawing ideas from his paintings. His father would guide him, helping him develop and improve his craft. His journey in art began early, painting his first canvas in 5th grade and continuing to experiment with different mediums, especially soft pastels. Winning numerous school competitions, he had his first group exhibition at the Attic Art Gallery in Panjim in 2008, selling some of his works. Subsequently, he exhibited at the Art Fest in Chichinim in 2011.
Guided and motivated by his father, he explored various techniques and mediums, including watercolors, oils, and acrylics. His favorite mediums became oil and watercolors, as he found immense satisfaction in the effects produced. Despite changes in his surroundings, he continues to cherish walks with his father, drawing from these experiences to evolve his artistic style and techniques. Inspired by his father's philosophy that nothing in life is wasted, he aspires to further develop his unique style and techniques, drawing inspiration from masters like B. Prabha, M.F. Hussain, K.K. Hebbar, and Indian miniatures.
